I really enjoy my job and going to sales to find things for you to take to your home. This week features things I found and fixed up to give them a whole new look!

White Dresser $225

I took a boring 1970’s dresser and gave it a new life. We painted it in our new favorite white—shows a little bit of tan.

Black Cedar Chest $190

I gave this old cedar chest new life by adding legs and giving it a nice black and brown paint job.

Off White/Cream mirror with hooks $330

Nice off white mirror with hooks. Perfect for the entryway. Made this out of an old door.

White mirror with storage seat $425

Another door turned into a mirror and storage seat.

Counter with open shelves $645

This is a functional counter that has open shelves on the front with access to the shelves from the back.

Another great piece that was rescued from the landfill! We love getting these and having them restored back to their original glory.

Our framed tin is very popular. Makes a great accent on your wall. Here we have pictured the white, but we also have them available in other colors. We also have mirrors made out of the tin. Prices and sizes vary.

This color is very popular and is a soft/soothing color.
In this first picture, we have two pieces. The piece on the left is a cute little chest. Perfect for your lingerie! Measures 18” deep, 22 1/4” wide and 41 1/2” tall. Priced at $240

My slacker wife….

My wife is such a slacker. Just because our 4 boys are out of school for the summer, she thinks she can lounge around all day at the pool or lake or just take it easy while I’m slaving away out here at the store. She hasn’t updated my blog in forever!

Ummm..EXCUSE ME?? I’m pretty sure I spend my days doing laundry, cooking, canning, keeping the boys from destroying the house, etc. And when I’m at the store, I’m doing YOUR MOM’S list of work for me. I know which person in the family to make happy. A daughter-in-law must keep the mother-in-law happy! Watch it or I’ll mean tweet about you!

Oh, alright, so she hasn’t been totally slacking, but she has ignored my blog. Soon the boys will be back in school and she can keep you updated more. Needless to say, there is much more in the store than we are putting on this week, so you’ll have to come out and see us. Let’s get started.

My buddy from Chicago came today to deliver tin, mantles, sconces and more! It is a family affair with my Dad helping keep track of the tin and my Mom keeping me on budget! We have some neat patterns this time.

What do I do with the tin? Some goes on the front of our counters and cabinets, we make framed tin for the wall and lately, mirrors.

Terri is always wondering why I never make her anything. What do you think, should I make her something?

Two new creations this week.

Table with 4 leaves $385

A twist on our usual tables. Normally we have old legs and put on a new top. I had taken the legs off of this table to make a harvest table, so we put new legs with the old top. Has 4 leaves.

Table with old stairwell parts. $290

We took parts from a stairwell and made the legs and front trim for this table. I love seeing what I can make out of old things!

Busy, Busy, Busy….just a simple word but it describes life at Green Oak recently. We had our February sale last weekend—THANK YOU for coming out. The weather isn’t the greatest again, but we are here and ready for you!

We’ll start with the mirrors first. Big and Beautiful describe these 3. We have one that has been painted white, one in oak finish and not sure what we will do with the 3rd. It has gorgeous columns. Any suggestions?

Tables…well half-tables that is. White, black and red. Many to choose from. Good for sofa tables, tv stands or entry way tables.

Our counters make wonderful tv stands, kitchen islands, bars or ??? Let your imagination run wild! We make them with tin doors or tin fronts. Some have 4 doors, some have 2. Can have an overhang or not. Don’t see exactly what you want? Just talk to me and we can see if we can come up with something that works just for you.

Odds and ends. We always have a few pieces that just strike my fancy. We have a neat sideboard and matching blind liquor cabinet just in. Nice black buffet with doors, coat racks made out of porch posts. Plus new items are arriving daily in the new home décor section. Lots of paper flowers---perfect those of you who don’t have a green thumb (I think I’ll get my wife some).

We took a huge cabinet, cut it up and made these drawer units.

Someone put a homemade top on this neat buffet. We put our black finish on both pieces.

Chicago Cabinet $1995
Another wonderful Chicago cabinet just in. Measures: 66" tall, 77" wide and is 16" deep on the sides and the middle has a 4" overhang above the drawers.

You know the old saying, when the cat is away, the mice will play? Well the boss, aka my mom, was gone last week so we thought we'd surprise her and our customers with a bathroom makeover. My wife is now wondering why her bathroom is so boring at home. What do you think of the new look?

We've been busy at the store putting away the Christmas and re-arranging. I wanted to share just a couple of "store views".

Our cabinets make great displays for stores. Here is a nice example:

Like a piece of furniture at the store but don't have room to take it home with you? We can store it until you have a truck to pick it up. But if you can't wait, don't worry, we can always figure out a way for you to get it home.

It has been a busy few weeks here at Green Oak. Let me catch you up with what I've been doing.

First, do you remember the desk from the last post? Here it is in it's refinished glory. Nice isn't it??

Next we have a GORGEOUS black harvest table. Look at those nice chunky legs! My wife says it is fine if I call these legs chunky.

Do you need a splash of color in your home? How about a piece of stained glass. We have a nice selection to choose from and here are a few of the new pieces.

Do you need a buffet for the upcoming holiday meals? We have them in black and white. Here is a pretty black one.

If you prefer more traditional furniture, we have that too. These Chicago buffets will make a wonderful statement in your home. Plus they hold a lot!

Our counters are very versatile! Use them in your kitchen, basement, bar, or for your plasma tv. We have many in stock to choose from and you can always talk to me about a specific size you may need.

Where has this year gone? Hard to believe it is the first part of November.

Kansas license plate display. 55 old plates dating from 1921 to 1969. No 1944 or 1953. 1924 has been repainted. 8 are not dated and there are two small year tags.

This week has been a great week! Let’s start shall we??
Metal Topped heavy duty workbench. $300. Top is 5 foot X 24 1/2”. Approx 36” tall. The top has a 1/4” steel for the top.

Copper Topped Table $395 Measures 60” X 32” and is 29 1/2” tall.

Spool Cabinet? $550 This solid oak piece looks like an old spool cabinet and was some sort of office furniture. Measures 43 1/2” W, 26 1/2” deep and is 13” tall. Inside of drawer is 18 3/4” X 24”. Would be neat to store all the kids school papers in.

French Bedroom Set
Neat bedroom set. The drawers of the dresser and highboy are solid oak on the inside. Set includes: highboy, dresser and bed. Only highboy is pictured.

Ceiling Tin topped table $220 Neat table that has old parts for the legs and ceiling tin for the top. Measures 27” X 65 1/2” and is 30” tall.

Stacking Office Drawer Unit $1100
sold!!This stacked drawer unit is beautiful! Refinished solid oak. Made by the same company that makes stacked bookcases. Has mission metal straps. This is the 2nd one like this we have ever had. GREAT piece. Measures 50” tall, 17 1/2” deep and is 41 1/2” across the front.

We just put these out on the floor and they are all 3 fabulous pieces.

First, we have a Chicago Cupboard that is 88 1/2" tall, 82" wide and 15 1/2" deep. Great looking piece! $2300.

Next, we have another Chicago cabinet and this one has leaded glass in the bookcase section. Measures 82" wide, 70 1/2" tall and approx 25" deep. $2200 SOLD!!!

And last, but definitely not least, we have this cute black bench. Measures 62" wide X 16" deep and is 18 1/2" tall. $190

I love to showcase the Chicago Cupboards/cabinets once we have them refinished. Thought I'd show you what they look like when I first get them. This one is available in our rough room if you'd like to do the work yourself. Somewhere under all the paint is nice oak. Seeing through all the problems of a piece is something I enjoy.

Garden Iron

I'm not one for decorating outside of the house, but I know a lot of people do. We are starting to get our garden iron in, with more arriving over the next few months. We will have gazebos, arbors, planters, trellis, pigs, neat roosters, and benches. If you are needing an arbor for your wedding or other summer celebration, we will be renting them for $50 for one week.

I'm also trying my hand at making concrete items for your yard. Right now I'm perfecting frogs and planters. Hoping to get started on benches soon!
